Waypoint for Nautical History Buffs
The Museum of Yachting at Fort Adams State Park is a must-see for those in tow with yachting traditions. New exhibits each summer span 150 years of history. Glimpse, for example, life aboard the 1885 schooner Coronet.
Take the Oldport Water Taxi to the Museum from downtown Newport.
The water taxi stops at the IYRS dock before crossing the harbor to Fort Adams.
Fares: Adults – One way $3.00; Round trip $5.00
Children under 12 – One way $2.00, Round trip $3.00
Schedule from Memorial Day to Labor Day: 12-6pm weather permitting. The Harbor shuttle leaves the Oldport dock at 15 minutes past the hour and leaves Fort Adams at 30 minutes past the hour. It takes approximately 5 minutes for the shuttle to get from Oldport to IYRS.
